Recording a new album with my tango trio!

During November 2022, we have jumped into the recording studio again with Tango il Faut. We made the recordings of 12 songs, 4 of them composed by me and 8 reversions of classics of the genre, which will be part of our third album entitled “Agitando el avispero”.

Very soon this work will be finished and you will be able to enjoy it on all digital platforms. In addition, we will be promoting it with a big European tour in spring 2023. Stay tuned for the news!

Symphonic work premiere: The Wild Suite

On September 23rd, my symphonic work “Wild Suite” was premiered at the Colón theater in the city of Mar del Plata (Buenos Aires, Argentina). It was performed by the Municipal Symphonic Band, under the conduction of Maestro José María Ulla, as part of the Federal Orchestra Plan runned by the Argentine Association of Composers.

This suite is one of my favorite works and it was written at the request of my dear composition teacher Guillermo Zalcman, whom I always carry in my memory and in my heart. Its theme is a tribute to nature and all forms of life on this planet, while inviting reflection on what we do with it.

My greatest thanks to maestro Ulla, his wonderful symphonic band and the Argentine Association of Composers who made it possible. Below, you will find some photos and the video of the premiere. Hope you enjoy it!

Professor at the University of Arts (Orchestration)

I was recently assigned the chair of Orchestration at the “López Buchardo Music Conservatory”, belonging to the National University of Arts (Argentina). Although I am living in Belgium, I can teach the subject thanks to the wonders of virtuality. My task is to provide students with the necessary theoretical and practical knowledge so that they can write works for symphony orchestra. In this way, they will have the necessary tools to become great composers and conductors in the future.

It fills me with joy and pride to teach this subject as the successor of my dear friend and teacher, Maestro Guillermo Zalcman, in this house of high studies that I love so much.
I will do my best to transmit my musical knowledge with excellence and humility, collaborating in the training of high-level musicians. Thank you very much to Dean Cristina Vázquez and to the entire university team for your trust!

Composition Award Winner 2020

I was announced recently, winner of the first honorable mention in the “Composition Contest for Symphonic Band 2020”, joinly organized by the Argentine Association of Composers, the Argentine Air Force and the Ministry of Defense of the Nation.
The work, called “Suite Libertadora”, is a three movements suite in homage to the great Argentine hero Manuel Belgrano. Each of its movements alludes to a specific event of Argentine independence.
The work was premiered by the symphonic band of the Argentine Air Force. It was a great challenge to record this work in the context of the pandemic, but the result was worth the effort.

Here’s the video, I hope you enjoy it!

Musical commissions from Australia

These last few months, I have had the great pleasure of writing, recording and producing the musical arrangements of some pieces written by the Australian composer Ai Diem Le. First, she trusted me for her piece “Messy is Love”, which was adapted for tango quintet (violin, bandoneon, piano, guitar and double bass). Then it was the turn of “Salve, estrella de mar”, which was adapted in the Argentine Zamba style, for voice, guitar and string quartet.
Stay connected, very soon we will be able to enjoy this beautiful music on all digital platforms!

New Tango project

Last year I started designing and writing a new Tango project. It is an online platform to learn to play this wonderful Argentine style on guitar, from anywhere in the world. It’s called Tango Guitar Lessons and it will contain courses for all levels, online classes, music scores to download, play along tracks, guitar arrangements and much more!

We already filmed, recorded and wrote everything together with an excellent team of professionals from Buenos Aires. Very soon, all this material will be available at www.tangoguitarlessons.com
In the meantime, I recommend you subscribe so you don’t miss the launch!
